The health of our planet has become a major issue facing all of humanity. Changes must take place in our lives to ensure a positive future for our children. Allthough there are many ways we can be environmentally correct, at Popular Plumbing, we like to see it from the perspective of our industry.
Water: the elixir of life
Everybody drinks water. It's good for us. It quenches our thirst and hydrates our bodies. Doctors say we should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. That seems like a lot but let's do some math to see just how much it is.
Let's say the average person drinks only 4 glasses
per day. That would be 1 glass at each meal and an extra glass to keep us quenched. For a family of 4, that's 16 glasses per day. Now, considering how active our lives are, that's mostly bottled water. So that would be 16 bottles a day, 112 bottles a week, 448 bottles a month and a grand total of 5,376 bottles a year! That's a lot of plastic bottles that are not good for the environment.
Let's calculate the cost. A store bought bottle of water can easily cost a dollar or more, while cases of water bottles from a supermarket are much less. For our estimates we'll use 25 cents per bottle. That comes out to a whopping $1,344 per year. That's certainly a lot of green but not the green we're looking for.
The simple answer to both of our green problems is a water filtration system in our home. For what it costs per year for bottled water, you can install an under counter water filter in your kitchen plus replacement filters for the next year.
The filtered water is piped to a separate faucet mounted on your sink or counter giving you crystal clear water at the turn of a handle.
It can be used not just for drinking but for cooking, making ice cubes or anything you would want fresh clean water for.
Give us a call for pricing on a filtration system that meets your needs.
Faucets for your new filtered water are available in many different styles and finishes.
We can easily find one to match your existing kitchen faucet.
Your filtered water can also run hot as well as cold.
This is great for making tea, instant oatmeal or anything else that would require boiling water.
